ABOUT JESUS CARES MINISTRY

Jesus Cares Ministry is a Christian Ministry that has operated in the inner city of Sydney since 1987.This ministry started through the vision of John Jones, a young man at the time (still actively involved in the ministry) who came to know that there were young people as young as 10 years of age on the streets of Sydney.

We started a coffee shop at no 7 Roslyn Street, Kings Cross and since that time have run a refuge or shelter for homeless people, a food van around the streets of the inner city of Sydney and a fellowship meeting on Sunday afternoons.

We operate in three, areas; the Inner City ,Western Sydney (Lalor Park area) and South Western Sydney:

Inner city

We serve the poor, homeless and lonely people of Sydney.

Thursday morning - hot breakfasts around Central Railway Station

Friday and Saturday nights - a food van for all we meet

each Sunday afternoon - fellowship meeting followed by a hot meal.

Western Sydney

We are involved in an Op Shop at Lalor Park where we also run a  mini Food Bank for those on benefits which provides great ministry opportunities in a community that has a high level of public housing and unemployment.

South Western Sydney

Thursday, a book table at Lakemba where we reach out to a predominately Muslim and multicultural community.

Our Purpose

A ministry that reaches out to the poor, the homeless, and the hurting people of our city with the good news of Jesus
And the King will answer and say to them “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to me

(Matthew 25:40 NKJV)

Our Mission

To present the good news of Jesus that is life changing and relevant

expressing the love of Jesus to those we serve through love,     obedience, trust,  acceptance and compassion equipping volunteers   for effective Christian service

Our Values

We accept that Jesus is the head of this ministry and that when we are serving others we really are serving Him

We love all people unconditionally

We accept all people we serve with compassion and without condemnation

We value every person as they have been created in the image of God

We create a sense of community amongst our volunteers and those we serve

We aim be consistent in all that we do and that we are committed to the people group God has given us to serve

We hold this ministry in loose hands because this is Gods ministry and only He can sustain it and only He can provide for our needs and the needs of others.
